FAQ: FAQ

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a semi-permanent make-up is used to insert pigment into the upper layer of the skin. We create the desired fullness and shape of the eyebrows. Using our hand tool, we’re able to create realistic looking 3d hairstrokes that look like real hair.

WHO SHOULD GET MICROBLADING?

Microblading Is great for anyone! But we do not recommended for those who have very oily skin since they are the most difficult skin type to work with. They’re at risk of rejecting the pigment, and more concerning, they are prone to pigment hydration, which is where the pigment fans into each other, the strokes sort of blend and it ends up looking like a powder-filled brow more than it looks like distinct strokes. It’s an excellent option for those who want definition to their already existing eyebrows or those who have minimal to no brows at all. Is great for anyone looking to change up their brows, specifically define them, fill-in where you've overplucked, cover up gaps, or slightly alter your arch.

WHO SHOULD NOT GET MICROBLADING?

1. Pregnant Or Breastfeeding
We do not recommend this because it is not worth taking a risk for your child
2. Keloid Scars
We do not want to touch keloids because they may have scar tissue built up beneath the skin and do not want to take that risk of cutting that area of the skin.
3. Autoimmune Diseases
Due to your compromised skin health.
4. On Blood Thinner Or Have Bleeding Disorders
Pinpoint bleeding is normal, whereas excessive bleeding is not. If you are on blood thinners this could allow you to bleed too much which will make it more difficult to implant the pigment into the skin. The pigment will be pushed out and the microblading process will be very difficult to achieve.
5. On Accutane Within The Last Year
Accutane extremely thins the top layer of your skin. We want your skin to be at its normal healthy self during microblading and also so it can heal properly.
6. Botox Within The Last 2 Weeks
If you’ve gotten botox near your brow area it is best to wait the 2 weeks before getting microblading because that is when the injected substances have fully settled on the facial muscles.
7. Stop Retinol/Retina 1 Week Prior
If used too close to the procedure date then this may allow your brows to fade quicker which we do not want!
8. Sunburnt Or Have Dermatitis
You must be completely healed from both of these before your appointment because if not then your skin will flake, resulting in loss of pigment from microblading.
9. Chemical Peels, Facials, Microdermabrasion 4 Weeks Prior
These are to be avoided because the outer layer of the skin is removed. Removing the top layer of the skin will result in loss of pigment in your new microbladed strokes.
10. Allergic To Nickel, Lidocaine, Epinephrine
We use a tiny blade made of nickel that cuts the skin so we do not want you having an allergic reaction during the procedure. Also, the numbing agents we use contain both lidocaine and epinephrine so we do not want you having a reaction to these either.
WILL NEED DOCTOR’S NOTE IF:
– Diabetic:
Your microblading may heal slower and may be more at risk for infection.
– Had chemotherapy within the last year:
Your immune system is compromised.
–Taking seizure or other medication:
Many medications have effects on the body so you will want to ask your doctor to make sure this is safe for you.

HOW MUCH DOES MICROBLADING COSTS?

Microblading costs range between $400 – $800 depending on the state you live in and the artist skill level. Make sure you do your homework, look at their healed work, and see if their prices include touch-ups as those are almost always needed. This is an investment, and understand that you get what you pay for as you do in any industry.

HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?

Microblading usually lasts around 18 – 24 months. You will need to be seen around that time for what we refer to as an annual touch-up to refresh the work.

DOES MICROBLADING RUIN YOUR NATURAL EYEBROWS?

Microblading will not encourage future hair loss or cause damage to the skin as long as you are seeing a highly skilled artist. Do your research, make sure you’re seeing a seasoned professional to get the best brows your money can buy.

DOES MICROBLADING HURT?

A topical numbing cream is applied prior to microblading. We also use a numbing gel throughout the process to keep you comfortable. Most people agree that the process is fairly painless, and 100% less than what they were expecting. Remember that everyone has a different pain threshold and this is a tattoo. If you’re concerned about the pain, just let us know and we’re happy to numb for longer before the appointment. Just call ahead!

HOW LOG IS THE APPOINTMENT?

It usually takes 3 TO 4 hours, with most of the time spent going over colors and drawing eyebrow shapes. The microblading portion lasts 45-60 minutes.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARED FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

  • Must be 18 years old. Please bring photo ID.

  • If you have photos please feel free to bring these to your appointment.

  • It is okay to fill in your brows before if you wish for me to see how you like to wear them daily.

  • No Botox treatments should be done 3 weeks prior or 4 weeks after procedure

  • No chemical peels 60 days before or after procedure (brows will peel quicker due to chemicals traveling under the skin)

  • No Retinols/Retin-A or other anti-aging/acne creams, or serums containing acids as these will fade brows prematurely before or after

  • Do not work out or sweat heavily the day of the procedure (or 2 weeks after) this includes all activities that produce sweats

  • Do not tan or have a sunburned face one week prior the procedure and after

  • No waxing or tinting 5 days before procedure

  • Stop taking aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, fish oil, CoQ10 and ibuprofen 48 hours before procedure and after your procedure

  • No alcohol or caffeine 24 hrs before procedure and after

DO I NEED TO TAKE TIME OFF WORK?

No. There's no downtime associated with the treatment. Redness and swelling will dissipate within an hour after. Your brows will appear darker initially, but not so dark that you will be prevented from your activities of daily living.

I HAVE PREVIOUS TATTOO/MICROBLADING DONE. CAN I STILL GET THE MICROBLADING PROCEDURE DONE?

It depends. If the pigment faded significantly and is very light we might be able to do microblading procedure. If you have a tattoo or microblading done please contact us before making an appointment. We will ask you to email us a picture of your brows in order to determine if you're eligible for the procedure.

I GOT MICROBLADING DONE SOMEWHERE ELSE AND I DO NOT LIKE THE RESULTS, CAN YOU FIX MY EYEBROWS?

If the procedure was done recently, most likely we won't be able to do anything about it. If the procedure was done a while ago and the pigment faded we might be able to fix them. We would still ask to see the photo of your eyebrows before making an appointment.

IS THE TOUCH-UP'S NECESSARY?

Yes! A touch-up session after 6-8 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and the outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during the first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment color may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the color for as long as possible!

WHAT IS THE MICROBLADING HEALING PROCESS?

The color will appear darker through the first week or so. This is because the pigment takes around seven days to enter the deeper layers of the skin. After seven to ten days, exfoliation takes place. The top layer of the skin peels off, leaving a softer, lighter color below. The result leaves you with softer and more natural lines. As the treated area continues to heal, itching may occur. Itching is a good sign as it means the skin is healing. The complete healing process for microbladed eyebrows typically takes six to eight weeks and then a touch-up appointment follows. The touch-up appointment is scheduled during the initial microblading appointment.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

The aftercare is not complicated, but it does require some diligence to provide the best possible microblading results. Microblading aftercare includes frequently applying a specialized cream in the early stages of healing and making sure absolutely nothing else comes in contact with the eyebrow area. Activities involving sun exposure, water, and even exercise to prevent perspiration, need to be avoided. It is imperative to follow the aftercare instructions to get the best possible healed results. DO NOT rub or pick the healing area as the color will peel off prematurely. And avoid extreme heat, sweating, and contaminated bodies of water (such as saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, pools). Avoid using heavily fragranced soaps. No makeup should be applied directly on the brows during the healing process.

FAQ: FAQ

WHAT ARE POWDERED BROWS?

Powdered brows, sometimes known as ombre brows or microshading, utilize a somewhat similar procedure to microblading but have some additional advantages. Many people prefer this method due to its soft and natural look and less invasive nature.
With powdered brows, instead of merely using strokes to fill in eyebrow hairs, the needle is used to draw both dashes and dots on the targeted area. The pigment is deposited onto the skin, which causes it to last longer than the “scratches” of microblading. The methodology of ombre brows utilizes a technique of “shaded” brows to give the appearance of fullness, thus giving excellent definition. You can build upon the initial shading to layer the look of your eyebrows. At first, the brows may seem dark, but they quickly fade to a soft, gentle look.

WHAT IS THE DIFERRENCE BETWEEN POWDER BROWS AND MICROBLADING?

Microblading uses a hand tool to create realistic looking hair strokes in the browline. Powdered brows help clients achieve more of a powdered or ombre look instead of individual hair strokes. Powdered brows have a soft makeup look and work great for clients with oily or mature skin.

HOW MUCH DOES POWDER BROW COST?

Powder brows costs range between $500- 800 depending on the state you live in and the artist skill level. Make sure you do your research, look at their work, and see if the prices include touch-ups as for the most part they are needed. This is an investment, and understand that you get what you pay for as you do in any industry.

HOW LONG IS THE APPOINTMENT?

Is at least 3 to 4 hours to include anesthesia setting, eyebrow shaping and the powder procedure itself

HOW LONG DOES POWDER BROWS LAST?

1-3 years
LASTS LONGER: Results do vary based on lifestyle, skin type, health, preferences, etc., but a single ombré powder brows session, using high-quality pigments, can last on average 1-3 years. Your skin type also plays a huge role, if you have normal to dry skin you are a great candidate. If you have oily skin the pigment might not stay as well with the excessive oil production, the oil pushes the pigment out of the body and mixing with the pigment causing it to lighten more. With oily skin you might require a second touch up and more frequent touch ups. If you are unsure of what skin type you have feel free to contact us for a free consultation to determine your skin type and discuss any skin concerns of yours and we will guide you in the right direction.

DOES POWDER BROWS HURT?

Yes, however I apply topical anesthetic cream to reduce discomfort.
Ombre powder brows are great for any skin type, unlike microblading, which may not work well on oily skinned beauties. The ombre powder technique is a bit less invasive than that of microblading. Also, this semi-permanent eyebrow styling technique is less painful than that of microblading.

DOES POWDER BROWS RUIN YOUR EYEBROWS?

Powder brow will not encourage future hair loss or cause damage to the skin as long as you are seeing a highly skilled artist. Do your research, make sure you’re seeing a seasoned professional to get the best brows your money can buy.

With powdered brows, instead of merely using strokes to fill in eyebrow hairs, the needle is used to draw both dashes and dots on the targeted area. The pigment is deposited onto the skin, which causes it to last longer than the “scratches” of microblading.

ARE POWDER BROWS WORTH IT?

Yes, that's years. Unlike other eyebrow procedures, ombré brows are achieved through the insertion of pigment under the dermis. Because the pigment is placed deeper in the skin, it takes longer to wear and fade. But, really - a minimum of twelve months of ditching the brow pencil is certainly worth considering

CAN YOU COMBINE MICROBLADING AND POWDER BROWS?

YES we called it “hybrid” brow or “combination” brow where you combine both microblading and powder brow techniques. The results look beautiful when hair strokes are at the front of the brow and the powder blush is going through the rest of the brows.”

WHO SHOULD GET POWERED BROWS?

This semi-permanent technique is the suggested and preferred method for those people who have oily skin, since this skin type does not hold the pigment of microblading very well. More mature skin types also respond better to this brow-filling method due to their loss of collagen. Less collagen means the skin is thinner, which means that the microblading technique feels more painful and invasive than when you get ombre brows.

WHO SHOULD NOT GET POWDER BROWS?

Your microblading may heal slower and may be more at risk for infection.
– Had chemotherapy within the last year:
Your immune system is compromised.
–Taking seizure or other medication:
Many medications have effects on the body so you will want to ask your doctor to make sure this is safe for you.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

The aftercare is not complicated, but it does require some diligence to provide the best possible powder brow results. Powder Brow aftercare includes frequently applying a specialized cream Aquaphor in the early stages of healing and making sure absolutely nothing else comes in contact with the eyebrow area.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?

Superficial healing should take more or less 7-14 days. However, this could differ from person to person. There might be some scabbing within this period. Make sure not pick or remove any of this. You will expect to see the full results after a month.

CAN I STILL HAVE POWDER BROWS DONE ON ME IF I ALREADY HAVE AN EXISTING EYEBROW TATTOO?

This depends on how saturated the old eyebrow tattoo is. If it is light enough, we can work over the old tattoo to correct the shape and color. However, you have to keep in mind that there might be some limitations with the results since the artist has to take into consideration the shape and/or color of the previous eyebrow tattoo.
